Two & More | Sis. Kathy Fleetwood

In last month’s devotional we looked into the significance of ONE and concluded by saying that it was only the beginning.

The word of God is full of examples of community; what it means to be TWO and MORE.

Step by step we are to partner with others and then reach out and enlarge our borders. The scripture says “two are better than one”. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10. Matthew 18:20 promises,”Where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am in the midst.” Jesus himself began his ministry alone, and then called individuals (disciples) to follow Him. Then, there came a time when “he began to send them out two by two”. Mark 6:7

We all need others. The Bible speaks clearly about the body of Christ, the church, and how we are all “members one of another” Romans 12:5.

The church cannot spiritually thrive and grow if we remain focused only on ourselves. We need community.

While everyone is not called to be a pastor or an evangelist or teacher through a pulpit ministry, we are all called to make disciples. Matthew 28:19. “go into all the world, and preach the gospel”. Although we all have individual platforms, “teaming up” with other believers strengthens not only ourselves but them also. “Iron sharpens iron” Proverbs 27:17. It is vital that we have spiritual “partners”.

If you do not already have a prayer partner, I encourage you to seek one out; someone who will not only encourage and support you in your spiritual walk, but who will challenge you to grow and reach out to others and vice versa. There is nothing quite like the partnership of another believer. If you already have a prayer partner, at the beginning of this year be sure to ask what specific things you can pray for them and with them this year. Then, commit to regularly praying, sharing and encouraging one another.

“Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A three strand cord is not quickly broken.” Ecclesiastes 4:12 NIV

If we are Spirit filled believers, Jesus has already empowered us “ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you and ye shall be witnesses…unto the uttermost parts of the earth.” Acts 1:8, commissioned us, Matthew 28:19 and sent us “Again Jesus said, Peace be unto you! As the Father has sent me, so send I you.” John 20:21.NIV Let us do as the scripture says, be “laborerstogether with God” 1 Corinthians 3:9, and see what He will do through us.

If you missed last Sunday’s message, please take time to listen on the podcast. In his message Bro Chase Noel gave this exhortation. “Instead of praying for God to give you a word, pray that He would give you a word for someone else.”
